Theme: WORKING TOGETHER BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN DISCIPLESHIP

*BIBLICAL FOUNDATIONS OF DISCIPLESHIP AND DISCIPLE-MAKING*

A disciple is  one that learns from Jesus and from others to live and to love like Jesus.

No one can become a disciple on their own. It takes God and others to become a fruitful disciple.

1. Biblical discipleship rests on the GREAT COMMISSION. Mk.16:15

* People need the know-how, the how to be and how to do things.

2. The EXAMPLE OF JESUS.

* Jesus is the reference without which we are lost in discipleship. Jn.4:34 – “My meat is to do the will of He that sent me.”

* It is when we do that we are fed.

* Let us not end at the level of information; let us continue to transform.

* Persistence in practice will break resistance. So, do not be a runaway.

Jn.5:19 – He does what He sees His Father do; 

Jn.8:28 – He says only the words put in His mouth by the Father.

3. The making of decisions has to be intentional and voluntary.

4. Discipleship is RELATIONAL. Pastors and ministers of the Gospel should never lose sight of the essential – to equip God’s people to work together in discipleship.

The leadership of the church exists to provide direction to the church and a vision towards accomplishing God’s mission.

Strategies

1. Listening to each other.
2. Open and authentic sharing. Encouraging an environment where the disciples can feel free to share their everything in all honesty.
3. Mutual teachings. Encouraging reciprocal sharing.
4. Praying together
5. Concerted action
