What is mercy?
Mercy appears in the Bible as it relates to forgiveness or withholding punishment. For example, God the Father showed mercy on us when he sacrificed his son, Christ Jesus, on the Cross to pay the price for our sins.
Brokenness is the state in which mercy is accorded. For when you are whole, the natural pride man is made up of is still full in the heart.
The Word of God says that the Lord resists the proud. Certain situations in this life require the mercy of God for it is not every result in this world that is produced using normal protocol of the human realm. You need mercy to get out of certain situations. Take for example the blind man in the Bible who said to our Lord « Jesus son of David have mercy on me ». He knew he was blind and that his condition needed the mercy of God to make him whole again. He acknowledged that he couldn’t get healed on his own, he was broken and cried out for mercy and it came. Whenever you face certain situations, do not be full of pride and recognize that only the mighty hand of God can rescue you and God will grant you his mercy.
Prayer :
Everlasting Father, I acknowledge that there is no me without you. Please have mercy on me and lead me all the way. Amen.
