The Bible reveals that Jonathan was the son of Saul. He was the one supposed to be King after his father Saul, but God had instead chosen David. This means that David was supposed to represent an obstacle for Jonathan. This means that David was supposed to be an enemy. Instead, Jonathan was an excellent friend to David, he did everything so that David should become King, and even his father was astonished. Jonathan later died, after being the person who introduced David to his destiny.
